Basseterre, St. Kitts (September 11, 2024) - The Rotary Clubs of Liamuiga and St. Kitts in partnership with the Firestone Group Inc and Palm Beach State College of Florida, U.S.A are pleased to announce the availability of the Trade Up Scholarship Program of the College to nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The TradeUp program (www.tradeupfund.org) is donated by its founder, Jeffrey Firestone, CEO of the Firestone Group Inc of Boca Raton Florida. After 40 years of serving our region with goods and services he is giving back to our Caribbean community with this scholarship program that is in partnership with Palm Beach State College.
Under the Trade Up Scholarship Program two scholarships will be available initially to qualified nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis for study in the Hospitality Certification Program of the College commencing in January 2025. The courses will be entirely online at evenings for a period of 12 months which may at the discretion of the College be extended to 18 months. The courses will include a wide range of training in the hospitality industry including management and related subjects. Mentoring and Counselling towards employment in the industry will also be provided.
The fundamental eligibility criteria for the scholarships are:
- residence in St. Kitts and Nevis for the past three years or study abroad in that period by nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis.
- a copy of passport or government issued ID
- a minimum of five (5) CSEC CXC Level passes including Mathematics and English
- admission by the College into its Hospitality Certification Program.
Acceptance and processing of applications for the Scholarships will be facilitated by the Rotary Clubs of Liamuiga and St. Kitts on behalf of the College. Dates and more
information about the application process will be publicized shortly.
The Scholarships will cover the full cost of tuition for the Hospitality Certification Program of Palm Beach State College conditional upon the maintenance by the student of good academic standing under the rules of the College.
